Kupwara: Kupwara Municipal Council has issued a strict directive prohibiting the sale of uncovered meat and cheese within the town limits, citing public health concerns and the need for better hygiene standards. The move aims to prevent exposure to dust, flies, and other contaminants that could lead to unhygienic conditions and public health risks.
All meat and cheese shop owners have been instructed to ensure that their products remain properly covered within their shops at all times. The practice of hanging raw meat or cheese outside shop premises has been strictly banned, and selling uncovered items at any location within the town is no longer permitted.
Authorities have warned that any violation of these directives will invite strict action under the Municipal Act, 2000. Penalties may include hefty fines or even the seizure of shops found disregarding the order.
This directive comes into immediate effect, and the Kupwara Municipal Council has urged all concerned sellers to comply without delay to maintain hygiene and safeguard public health.
