Kupwara, June 14: The Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple at Tikker Kupwara witnessed a large gathering of devotees on Friday, celebrating the annual festival of Ragnya Devi with fervor and enthusiasm. The district administration of Kupwara ensured all necessary arrangements were in place for the event.
The festival, marked by deep religious sentiment, saw devotees offering prayers, participating in Pooja Archana and Havan, and presenting floral tributes to the deity. Many devotees walked barefoot, carrying rose petals and milk as offerings to the goddess. The evening aarti drew hundreds of participants, underscoring the temple’s spiritual significance for Kashmiri Pandits worldwide.
The event also highlighted the region’s communal harmony, as people from various backgrounds, including Kashmiri Muslims, welcomed the devotees, fostering an atmosphere of cultural bonding and mutual respect.
Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, along with SSP Kupwara Shobhit Saxena and other district officials, visited the temple multiple times to oversee the arrangements. Ms. Sudan extended her heartfelt greetings to the devotees, expressing her best wishes during interactions.
Devotees expressed gratitude to the district administration, particularly commending the efforts of DC Sudan and SSP Saxena, for the meticulous arrangements that facilitated a smooth and peaceful celebration.
In addition to the Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple, devotees also paid obeisance at other significant religious sites in Kupwara, including the Sharda Mata Temple in Teetwal, Badarkali Temple in Handwara, Chandi Mata Temple in Chandigam Lolab, and temples in Gushi and Trehgam.
