Kupwara, Aug 11: The “Meri Mati, Mera Desh” campaign under the resounding theme of ‘Mitti Ko Naman, Veero Ka Vandan’ has gained momentum in frontier District Kupwara as a Mega Tiranga rally was held today at famous tourist destination Bangus which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan ( IAS) at Chota Bungus Meadow as a prelude to the 77th Independence Day Celebrations.

This mega rally was organized by District Administration Kupwara in collaboration with the School Education Department, DYSS, and Animal & Sheep Husbandry Departments.

This impactful event infused a sense of patriotism and nationalistic fervor within the hearts of the people. The pledge of “Panch Pran” – the five life forces – was taken by DDC and other participants, embodying their commitment to uphold the nation’s value.

The Rally witnessed overwhelming participation of hundreds of people including students from Government schools, Government employees, youth volunteers, and tribals from Karnah, Chowkibal , Rajwar areas inhabiting Bangus valley and tourists visiting Bangus.

The Rally started from Chota Bungas,travelling through lush green meadow of Bangus finally culminating near Bada Bangus amidst reverberations of patriotic melodies and singing of the National Anthem.

District development Commissioner Kupwara, ADC Kupwwara, CEO Kupwara, CEO-LBBDA, District Information officer, Chief Animal Husbandry officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, DYS& S Officer, District Information officer and other senior officers of District Administration and Heads of Institutions of various schools accompanied the rally.

Later a Tribal cultural programme creating mesmerizing scenes of unity and diversity was presented by local folk singers who sung the melodious Pahadi and Gojari songs and performed dance which was enjoyed by the audience.

Charkaha (the wool spinning) and traditional Milk Churning was live demonstrated by tribal women at Bangus.

A horse race competition was also held at Bangus where horse riders carrying national flags participated in the competition.

In the horse race competition 15- year old Ashiq Hussain Khatana secured the first position, Second position was won by Safeer Ahmad, third position was won by Irfan Ahmad Khatana.

Tribal women were presented gifts by Deputy Commisioner Kupwara for live demonstration of traditional practices of wool spinning and milk churning.
