Kupwara : Kupwara town is facing a mounting waste management crisis as approximately 90% of shopkeepers operate without dustbins, leading to widespread littering on open roads. Despite the Municipal Council Kupwara deploying waste collection vehicles daily, a significant portion of the garbage is still seen scattered along streets, tarnishing the town’s aesthetic appeal.
Concerned pedestrians and local residents have raised their voices, urging the Kupwara Administration and the President of Traders Federation Kupwara to take immediate action. They have appealed for strict directives mandating shopkeepers to install dustbins in their establishments to prevent further degradation of the town’s cleanliness.
“The waste scattered on roads not only creates an ugly look but also poses health hazards,” a local resident remarked. “It’s high time the administration enforces rules to ensure proper waste disposal by all shopkeepers.”
As Kupwara grapples with this challenge, the spotlight is on the authorities and traders to collaborate for a cleaner, healthier town.
