In one more success on its anti-narcotics drive against the drug peddlers in the district, Kupwara Police today afternoon arrested one person involved in smuggling of narcotics in the district.
Acting on a specific input developed by District Special Branch, a special naka was established at Surigam crossing near Sumo stand Puthsai Lolab by a team of Police Station Sogam led by SHO Sogam Tanveer Ahmad along with PSI Azhar Shakeel. During the course of naka checking, one suspicious person who tried to fled away from the naka was tactfully apprehended. During the personal search of the said person a consignment of charas like substance weighing about one kilogram was recovered from his personal possession. The person involved in the commission of crime was identified as Nazir Ahmad Gojar, son of Jamal u din Gojar a resident of Warnow Lolab. He was arrested from the spot. Case FIR No. 75/2022 under section 8/20,NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Sogam and investigation taken up.
In another narcotics related case of police station Sogam registered under FIR No. 72/2022 under sections 8/20,29 NDPS Act on October 15,2022 , one Kilogram more of Charas like substance was recovered from Warnow area of Lolab ,on the confession of the lady accused arrested earlier in the case , making the total quantity of recovered narcotics in the said case to four kilograms. Further investigation in both cases is going on and more arrests are expected in the coming days.
