The social festival of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated today throughout the country. Kupwara also added its share of joy and celebrations by celebrating Rakshabandhan with the Army at different places.
Army troops were welcomed at JSS Centre Sulkoot , where girls had been preparing tricolored rakhis since last few days. The centre had also received rakhis from JSS centres in Maharashtra and Goa, which were sent as a gift for the army personnel guarding the borders of the nation.
The beneficiaries and instructors present there tied rakhis to the army jawans and exchanged sweets. Emotional and heartfelt moments could be seen as Army men expressed their feelings and thanked these girls for this lovely gesture.
Similar celebrations were carried out at other JSS Centres at Manigah, Kalaroos and Trehgam. JSS centres from Maharashtra and Goa connected through video conference and became a part of the Celebrations in Kupwara.
Veernaris joined the celebrations in Halmatpura by blessing their brothers in Uniform. Village elders were also tied Rakhis in Manigah and Kalaroos.
Other function was held at Hajipir Army Goodwill School Trehgam where school kids tied rakhi on the wrist of army jawans and other guests. Commanding Officer, Humdard-e-Kupwara Battalion explained the meaning and significance of this festival to young children and made them understand the historical background of the festival.
The celebrations at Isgund headquarters were joined by locals from khumriyal, Kupwara and Manigah. The ladies of these villages came all the way to thank the Humdard-e-Kupwara warriors for protecting the area from all types of evils and problems. NGOs including Goonj Foundation and Kaafila Foundation also joined in this grand event.
The air was filled with emotional and candid colors of rakshabandhan and the army personnel thanked all present ladies and dignitaries for making this day special for them.
