Kamraj Forest Division carries out Bhang destruction operation in Kupwara

Kupwara: Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara, under the supervision of Divisional Forest Officer Anurag Arya, IFS, has successfully eradicated bhang cultivation at Trumkhan Top, specifically in compartments 35 and 36 of South Lolab Range. This operation was part of a concerted effort to combat the drug menace in the region.

The anti-bhang drive was a collaborative effort involving the frontline staff of Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara and Bandipora Forest Division, J&K Police Contingent, the Revenue Department, Forest Protection Force officials and Bandipora Forest Division. During the operation, illegal fencing on forest land was also dismantled.

The local community has expressed their appreciation for the Forest Department’s actions and urged for similar operations in nearby areas to continue. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring the well-being of the local populace by addressing the issue of illegal drug cultivation.

DFO Kamraj expressed his heartfelt gratitude to DC Kupwara Ms. Ayushi Sudan, IAS and SSP Kupwara Shri Shobhit Saxena, IPS for their strong support in carrying out the operation.
