J&K National Health Mission Employees Awaiting Salaries for Three Months

Express Deep Concern Over Delayed Salaries, Urge Govt to Release Pending Wages

Srinagar, Sep 24: The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission (NHM) Employees Association has expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in the disbursement of monthly salaries, with employees now facing severe financial distress after not being paid for the past three months.

In a statement issued here, the Association highlighted the tireless work of NHM employees who continue to serve the public despite the ongoing salary delays.

Muneer Andrabi, President of the Association, emphasized that these employees work relentlessly around the clock to provide critical healthcare services, yet their commitment has not been met with timely compensation.

“Our employees are on their toes, working round the clock to ensure that essential health services are delivered to the people, but they are now enduring severe mental stress due to the persistent delays in salary payments,” Andrabi said, adding, “It’s disheartening to see our dedicated staff struggle financially, especially when they are fully committed to their duties.”

Andrabi also pointed out the added strain on employees, as the harvest season in Kashmir is at its peak. Many NHM workers, particularly those in rural areas, rely on their earnings to support their families and the failure to receive wages has left them in a state of distress.

“With the harvest season in full swing, our employees should be able to take time off to participate in the crucial harvesting work. However, the delay in salaries has left them financially crippled, and many are even unable to afford basic commuting costs to reach their workplaces,” he said.

The Association has urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to prioritize the release of the long-pending wages to alleviate the suffering of NHM employees. “We appeal to the government to take immediate action and release the overdue salaries so that our employees can continue their work without the added burden of financial uncertainty,” Andrabi concluded.

The delay in payments has caused widespread dissatisfaction among NHM employees, who continue to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir despite the financial hardships they are enduring. The Association hopes that the government will take swift action to address their concerns and ensure that employees are compensated fairly for their dedication and hard work.

Meanwhile, the association has reiterated that if the salary issue are not resolved immediately in the near future, they will have no choice but to take to the streets in protest.
