Kupwara, October 31: On the ocasion of the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, an impressive Parade and integrity pledge ceremony was held today at District Police Lines Zangli, Kupwara.
Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori, Vice Chairman, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, Deputy Commisioner Kupwara,Ms. Ayushi Sudan and SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas, laid the wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial, took the salute at the colourful march Past and inspected the parade which was presented by contigents of Police, CRPF, NCC cadets and students of different educational institutions.
Event was followed by a Pledge taking ceremony in which Chairman, District Development Council, Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori administered the integrity pledge to all the officers/officials of District adminstration and Police and other Participants who pledged to preserve the unity and Integrity of the Nation and dedicate themselves for the country.
The Deputy Commisioner Kupwara, while enlightening about the Rashtrya Ekta Divas said that India celebrates October 31 as National Unity Day to pay tributes to veteran freedom fighter and nations first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on his birth anniversary whose contribution in convincing many of the princely states to join the Union of India after Independence remains remarkable. As the country remains grateful for Patel’s crucial efforts leading to the integration of India, the day is celebrated as a homage to the national unity.
DC said that Equitable Development is being witnessed in UT of J&K and also in Kupwara district where all-round development is being witnessed and every corner of the district and Kupwara district is buzzing with developmental projects.
DC added that far off villages of Machil, Keran and Karnah have been electrified first time. All the Panchayats of the district are ODF Plus now, milk production in the district is surplus. There is manifold increase in oil seed production. There is increase in tourist foot fall at the prominent tourist destinations of the district like Bangus, Dranagyadi, Lolab, Teetwal and Keran.
” 270 roads of the district were macdamised this year. 6500 women SHGs under NRLM are functioning in the district which is a remarkable achivement” DC said.
Later, a scintillating cultural programme was presented by the students of different educational institutions who sung the melodious Kashmiri, Pahadi and Gojari songs and performed dance which was enjoyed by the audience.
ADC Kupwara, Gh.Nabi Bhat presented the vote of thanks at the event.
