Kupwara, June 08 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have recovered a huge quantity of weapons in Keran sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district in a joint operation.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint operation was launched by Kupwara police and Army’s 6 RR unit in Keran village along the Line of Control (LoC) after receiving specific inputs during which a huge amount of arms and ammunition was recovered.
During the searches, a large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered, he said.
The recoveries include five AK 47, 15 AK Magazine, 443 AK rounds, two UBGL, 57 UBGL grenade, six 9mm Pistols, 12 9mm Magazine, 9mm rounds 77 Hand Grenade and AK sling 2.
Meanwhile, police in its statement said, “with this joint operation, security forces deployed in Kupwara have successfully foiled the nefarious designs of Pakistan based militant operatives to smuggle illegal weapons into valley and spread militancy.”
In this regard, police said a case under FIR number 01/2020, under sections 4/5 Explosives Substances Act and 7/25 IA Act, has been registered in PS Keran and further investigation set into motion—(KNO)
