Kupwara: The much hue and cry for development on war footing basis, seems a hoax on ground level particularly in Kupwara Town.
Even after three years when work was started to compete a footbridge for Dudwan-Darzimohallah in 2018, the department of Roads and Buildings (R&B),is yet to complete it and didn’t work on it for two and a half years now.
According to reports, the user agency started work on a footbridge near ward number 4 in the year 2018. The foot bridge was being constructed on a stream, dividing the inhabitants in two parts.
However, soon after initiating construction work on the bridge, the user agency left the work halfway without any reason. The locals were hopeful that work on the bridge might start soon, however three years on the department of Roads and buildings didn’t resume the work, with the result the local population continues to live with sufferings.
“This footbridge is so important that it will connect the Hospital and newly built college road and University campus. If this footbridge would have been built, our wards would have reached schools in 5 minutes but currently it takes them 25 minutes to reach their schools”, said Irshad Farooq a resident of Dudwan.
Shujaat Yousuf who hails from Dudwan village, while talking to kupwaratimes.com correspondent said that in absence of a foot bridge, the locals are facing enormous hardships, even students and patients .
Kupwara residents have appealed administration to start the work on the said project, so that pedestrians will not suffer .(kupwaratimes)
