Kupwara, February, 11: At the time when government is overhauling the health system in the Jammu and Kashmir, Kupwara as always still lacks proper facilities in terms of infrastructure and medical staff.
Interestingly, an Anaesthesia doctor, posted iin Sub District Hospital Kralpora and draws salary from here is working in Gousia Hospital Srinagar. Sources in the department said, the anesthesia doctor was posted in Kralpora three years ago but never worked there. “He draws his salary from SDH Kralpora but works in Srinagar. He has not visited his original posting even once”, said a source.
It is pertinent to mention here that after almost two years when hospital was shifted to new building, SDH Kralpora has no working theatre. Around one lakh population depends on this SDH, but is without theatre which forced people to visit Kupwara, Handwara, or even Srinagar for normal surgeries. A source also said that, two surgeons are posted in Kralpora and one surgeon is also attached to SDH Kupwara and works there for two days, besides his two days duty in Kralpora.
Locals demanded that theatre must immediately started and all the doctors posted in SDH Kralpora be directed to work there.(kupwaratimes.com)
