KUPWARA, MARCH 7: As per the Plan of Action year – 2024 and under the immediate supervision of JK Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority Kupwara in collaboration with Education Department Kupwara celebrated International Women’s Day with great fervor and enthusiasm, today.
Prior to 08th March, the actual day designated for the celebration of Women’s Day. The day was celebrated by organizing an awareness programme at Main Hall Govt. Hr. Sec. School Kupwara and Govt. School Teethwal. The programme focused on to uphold Women Achievements and to equip women with the necessary knowledge about their Rights, recognize challenges of domestic violence, empowerment etc. The programme was held under the guidance of Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson DLSA (Pr. District and Sessions Judge) Kupwara and Guidance of Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan, Secretary/ Sub-Judge District Legal Services Authority Kupwara.
While addressing the gathering, Advocate Rubeena Rashid, Resource Person, highlighted the importance of the day and played a significant role by providing invaluable insights and guidance to the participants. She said that the day also marks for gender equality that is free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. Advocate Mubeena Akhter, Resource Person familiarized the participants on how to lodge a complaint or register an F.I.R. in case of offences against women. During her speech she also focused on free and competent legal aid and assistance as outlined in the Legal Services Act, 1987 to navigate legal challenges. She also briefed about Sexual Harassment Act, at the work place and also resource person from Education department on her deliberations underlined the elements that define the women empowerment in its truest sense. She insisted that the factors that contribute to women empowerment should not only confine to words or actions of an individual but should be more vocal in thoughts. She also informed about various schemes initiated by Government for the welfare and upliftment of women.
During the programme Students from various institutions also delivered speeches on the said topic.
Besides Officials from Education Department, Teachers, Female Students and Para Legal Volunteers of District Legal Services Authority Kupwara took participated in the programme. The programme concluded with the heartfelt gratitude expressed by all the participants to the District Legal Services Authority, Kupwara for organizing such an invaluable programme to their cause.
