“Do not leave anything undone”, DGP to officers

Jammu, 21 March: “Do not leave anything undone”, this was directed by the Director General of Police Shri Dilbag Singh while chairing a high level meeting with the heads of all Police wings, Zones, Districts and Units to review the preparation of the J&K Police in view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic today in the conference hall of Police Headquarters here.

The meeting was attended by ADGsP Shri B Srinivas, Shri A. K. Choudhary, Shri Deepak Kumar, Shri S. J. M. Gillani, Shri A. G. Mir, IGsP Dr. S. D. Singh Jamwal, Shri T. Namgyal, Shri Mukesh Singh, Shri M. K. Sinha, Shri Danesh Rana, Shri Gareeb Dass, Shri Alok Kumar, DIG JSK Shri Bhim Sen Tuti, DPT Shri Nisar Ahmed, AIsG of PHQ, SSP PCR Jammu, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Jammu Dr Abdul Majeed Malik and gazetted officers of PHQ.

Those officers who participated in the meeting via video conferencing included IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, all district SSsP of Kashmir and Jammu zone and Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Srinagar Dr Bilal Ahmad.

The DGP directed the officers to make all efforts so that this disease does not spread in the community and in the Police. He said that in all the District Police Lines Isolation rooms must be created. He also said that suitable places must be identified for providing quarantine facilities to the police personnel. The IGsP were directed to create all the facilities in consultation with the Superintendent of Police Hospitals Jammu and Srinagar respectively. He directed the Zonal IGsP and the Medical Superintendent to visit these places and make a list of the requirements so that the facilities are made operations as quick as possible.

The DGP said that Zonal IGsP have been directed to make all the purchases such as sanitizers, masks, soaps etc. He said that since Police has to respond to different situations which include the quarantine designated places, the nafri deployed such duties must be having full protecting gear so that they are safeguarded. He said that adequate funds have been made available to all the units for making different purchases and more funds will be allocated for providing these facilities.

Shri Singh directed that a Gazetted Officer be designated by all the units as an Officer Incharge for the efforts with regard to COVID-19 pandemic in all the units. Highlighting the need for social distancing the DGP said that all the necessary arrangements and procedures, precautions must be followed in all the units of the J&K Police. Those who have returned from different countries must be put in self-isolation. He said that physical contacts with the public must be avoided to the maximum however, all important assignments must be addressed.

The DGP said that mechanism must be placed on the front gates of all the police stations, Police Posts and establishments so that the complaints are redressed on priority basis. He also directed the DDOs and Heads of different wings that offices and articles must be sanitized by putting to use all the available means. He said that Police Stations, Offices, Barracks must be sanitized, and fumigated.

He said that religious leaders must be advised to discourage congregations. He said all the precautions must be taken and there must not be any loop holes or gaps left in our fight against this pandemic. During the meeting the senior officers gave briefing about the preparations, precautions made by their wings and units with regard to COVID-19 pandemic in their respective wings and offices.
