KUPWARA,JULY 21:
In order to increase the viability of PACS and diversify their business activities to make them vibrant economic entities at grass-root level, a meeting of District Level Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) Friday was held at Mini-Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex Kupwara under the Chairpersonship of District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan(IAS).
ADC Kupwara, Gh. Nabi Bhat; DDM NABARD, Zubair Ahmad, CAHO Kupwara, Dr. Ashraf Malik, PACs Dev. Officer (BCCB) Mohd. Ashraf; Assistant Registrar Cooperatives, Irshad Ahmad; AD Food Kupwara, Wali Mohammad besides Officials and representatives of other concerned departments were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was informed that there are a total of 22 PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies in the district wherein 19816 members are associated. 22 Panchayat Halqas of district are covered by PACS. It was also apprised that a total of 89 Cooperatives stand registered in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan deliberated on the objectives of the meeting and stressed on the committee members to make best efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement in Kupwara district so that people at and deepening its reach to the grassroot level can take benefits of Cooperative societies.
District Development Commisioner emphasised for making Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) as vibrant economic entities.
DDC Kupwara directed that all 22 PACS to operate as Jan Aushadi Kendras for improving access to generic medicines in villages.
DDC directed that 22 PACS to be on-boarded as CSCs (Common Service Centres)and Accountants to be trained to work as Resource Persons to operate CSCs.
DDC further directed Cooperative Department to share the list of PACS with Agriculture Department for formation of FPOs.
DDC Kupwara asked concerned departments for Convergence and handholding of milk FPOs and Cooperatives to streamline the process of milk procurement and processing in the district.
