1270 works get nod
Kupwara, June 03: District Administration Kupwara played a vital role to address every concern of the public during lockdown, aimed at to contain spread of dreaded Coronavirus, commonly known as COVID-19 pandemic. The administration, apart from facilitating supplies of ration and essential commodities, accruing masks and medicine etc., took steps to start process of developmental activities across the district.
The District Administration headed by Deputy Commissioner, Anshul Garg issued permission for execution of 1270 different developmental works in the district. These works include 94 road and bridge schemes, 24 works of disilting of khuls, construction of 7 borewells, 6 filtration plants, 14 substations, HT/LT, 63 school buildings/boundary walls, 5 hutment/toilets, 1034 footpaths/link roads/Protection Bunds, upgradation of 3 vegetable markets and two 33KVA lines besides, service of 3 water supply schemes and other miscellaneous works.
In order to execute these 1270 works smoothly within the stipulated time frame, as many as 7960 laborers are required, besides, 342 engineering/ supervisory staff.
As per the statement issued by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, construction work has been started on 884 developmental projects during the last month with strict application of standard operation procedures (SOPs) as laid down by the government to contain the spread of COVID-19. The procedures for maintenance of social distancing, usage of masks, sanitizers, self-hygiene and frequent handwash are also being implemented.
