Advisory issued as water level rises in Sindh stream in central Kashmir’s Kangan

Kangan, June 11 : In view of rise in the water level in nallah Sindh in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district this summer posing risk to life, the sub divisional administration Kangan on Friday issued an advisory for people living in nearby areas asking to avoid bathing in the stream and remain extra vigilant.

As per the advisory issued by SDM Kangan, Hakim Tanveer, Assistant Executive Engineer I&FC has reported that in view of increase in temperature, the rate of melting of snow in higher catchments of nallah Sindh has resulted in heavy discharge in nallah Sindh and its tributaries.

The SDM Kangan said there are apprehensions that temporary crossings constructed over nallah sindh and its tributaries might get damaged at any time which can result any untoward incident.

“In view of the above Tehsildar Kangan and Gund are hereby directed to direct field staff including Lumbardas and Chowkidars to inform the general public residing along the embankments of nallah Sindh and people visiting sub division Kangan to remain extra vigilant and avoiding bath in nallah Sindh for the safety of their life and property” reads the advisory.

The advisory comes on the heels of a Greater Kashmir report in Friday’s issue wherein the locals asked the administration to ban swimming in Nallah Sindh to prevent any untoward incident. (Agencies)
