In continuation with its efforts to bridge the gap between jawan and awam, AWWAL ATTHAIS organised celebration of women’s day in AGS KRUSAN. The event consisted of various programmes to celebrate women and their role in society. The event was attended by Mrs Priyanka Sharma and Brigadier Neeraj Sharma, Commander 8 Sector RR and Colonel Ravi Kumar, SM, Deputy Commander 8 Sector RR. The students mesmerised the crowd present with their oratory skills with their speech on Women’s day and the role of women in nation building. The next programme was the presentation of dance by a student on the theme of women’s role in society which kept the audience enthralled. Thereafter, the toppers of Class XII and class X of AGS Chandigam and AGS Krusan were felicitated by the chief guest. It is pertinent to mention that out of the 9 positions, 5 were secured by girls. After that various women who are doing exemplary work in their society while shouldering the responsibilities of their family were also felicitated. The event was also attended by local women from different professions to motivate the girl students. They were presented with Iron Lady Certificate to honour their contribution to society.
The various girls who are learning stitching and embroidery in VTC, Chandigam were also presented with a gift to help them in their empowerment.
The event was highly appreciated by all those present and they thanked Army for their role in promoting gender equality in the valley.
