A Young Talented Artist and Calligrapher From Lolab Kupwara

Kupwara: Tahir Shah Peerzada hailing from the remote district of Kupwara has set social media on fire after his art and calligraphy pictures went viral on social media sites from the last couple of weeks. Taking it as passion-cum-profession, Peerzada said that it was his aim to do art and calligraphy from beginning of the life.
Tahir Shah Peerzada, basically a resident of Dever Lolab, did his basic schooling from Islamia Model High School Dever Lolab and got his further studies from Government Higher Secondary School Lalpora. After clearing 12th standard, Peerzada completed his graduation from Govt Degree College Sogam. After attaining his basic education, he has completed Masters in History and has been doing art and calligraphy for the last 25 years.
“I have been inclined towards Art and Calligraphy since my childhood days”, says Peerzada.
He says the things which inspired him and turned him into an artist were mostly from social media, especially ‘YouTube’ and from other social networks. “I love watching the paintings of a famous artist Augusto Ferrer, an Italy based artist which inspired me a lot in this. As in the field of calligraphy, I am proficient in Thulath and Nastaleeq and in art, I am proficient in watercolor, pencil sketching and this process of art and calligraphy has now become my hobby.”
When asked about him being a follower of anyone who guided him to this, Tahir says “I have neither any guide nor any master in this and it all was natural. I’ve made hundreds of sketches including sketches of Aalama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, Mahatma Gandhi, Mohsin Maqbool and several others, which are available on my social media sites”, says Peerzada.
“I am available on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram pages, after being directed by his friends, relatives and colleagues and fortunately am receiving a good response to his art and calligraphy now. I loved to be creative and used to make handmade things.”
“From the beginning of the day, I started to operate my Facebook, YouTube and Instagram pages’ namely ‘TS Art and Calligraphy ’, I have been getting a warm response from my netizens far and wide”, says Peerzada.
One of his favourite teacher namely Mohsin Maqbool, assistant professor urdu said that Tahir remains one of his favourite student from the day he start to join college for studies and during my entire duties in Govt Degree college Sogam Lolab. He is very intelligent, active and a dedicated guy and hard to search such guys like him in current days”, adding “I feel very excited cum pleasant whenever I watch his tireless work on social media networks “, Professor said,
Meanwhile, many civil delegations including his teachers, friends, colleagues have got impressed by his unique style of art and calligraphy and have extended their heartfelt greetings to him and expected his bright future in time to come.
