NHM Employees Jammu and Kashmir Urges Omar Abdullah-Led Government to Follow Maharashtra’s Lead in Regularizing Employees

Srinagar: As the holy occasions of Shab-i-Qadr and Eid-Ul-Fitr is approaching thick and fast, employees working under the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission (NHM) have voiced their growing concerns over the non-payment of their wages for the past two and a half months. This prolonged delay has caused considerable distress, with employees now grappling with significant financial hardships.

Muneer Andrabi, President, National Health Mission Employees Association (NHMEA) expressed his frustration over the salary delays, highlighting the severe mental and emotional toll it has taken on the employees. “Despite working tirelessly and dedicating ourselves to our duties, we have not been paid for over two and a half months now. This delay is not only affecting our livelihoods but also causing immense stress, as many of us are unable to fulfill basic needs,” Andrabi said. He further emphasized that, out of desperation, the employees are now compelled to take to the streets to have their voices heard by the authorities.

While the Government of India has released the funds for the employees’ payments, those working under the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission have yet to receive any of the promised amount. Andrabi has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government, under the leadership of Omar Abdullah, as well as the Health and Medical Education Minister, to address the employees’ grievances without further delay.

In his appeal, Andrabi called on the Chief Minister and the Health and Medical Education Minister to take swift action to ensure that employees receive their overdue wages.
