NHM Employees Express Dismay Over Delay in Wages

Srinagar: Employees working under the Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission (JKNHM) have expressed deep concern over the repeated delays in receiving their monthly wages.

Abdul Rauoof, the Chief Spokesperson of the JKNHM Employees Association (JKNHMEA), highlighted that nearly 11,000 employees, working tirelessly in hospitals across the Union Territory, are facing persistent issues with delayed in payments.

Rauoof emphasized that these frontline workers are performing their essential duties without receiving timely compensation, impacting their families significantly. He pointed out that the delay has led to serious repercussions, including risks to children’s education due to unpaid school fees.

The employees have voiced their frustration, noting that the delay in salary payments has become a regular issue. Despite their round-the-clock service, which contributes immensely to the health sector, they claim to be deprived of their basic dues.

Meanwhile, Muneer Andrabi, the incumbent President of JKNHMEA, appealed to key authorities— including the Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister, Principal Secretary of Finance, and Secretary of Health and Medical Education— to address the matter urgently and resolve the salary delay issue, bringing much-needed relief to the employees.
