Kupwara, January 23: In a new political development in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference (NC) and Apni Party (AP), is likely to join hands for DDC chairmanship in Kupwara.
Reliable sources told kupwaratimes.Com, that recently a backdoor meeting of NC and Apni Party leaders, was held in Jammu and likely they are forming alliance for newly elected DDC chairman for Kupwara.
Interestingly, National Conference vice president, Omar Abdullah has called Apni Party as “B-team of BJP”, in a recent interview to a national media outlet.
If sources are to be believed, some DDC members affiliated to National Conference may resign from the party before DDC chairman elections which will be held through secret ballot. “An NC leader has already conveyed this message to National Conference DDC members. This is to keep Peoples Conference out of fray”, a source close to a National Conference DDC member said.
On asking why NC members are asked to resign first, this source said, it is to win ” Somehow independent candidates”.
Interestingly this development occurs after Peoples Conference “Divorced PAGD” on January 19.
A close NC source said, “Except Kupwara and Baramula PAGD will collectively ‘Elect’ chairmen in every district. Definitely NC will try to elect their own chairmen in both (Kupwara and Baramula) districts”.
On wishing anonymity a DDC Member from NC said”I don’t know about this. I will go with the party whatever their decision”.
While as an independent DDC Member said he is neither interested in it nor he has got any such message. “If someone approaches me I will look for an option definitely. Till now no one has approached me whether I should vote or even I didn’t give a thought to it. I can remain abstain even”, said an independent DDC member while wishing anonymity.
No DDC member from Peoples Conference was available for comment.
