Mir Basharat, BJP s Kupwara Spokesperson has lashed out at Kupwara administration for unhygienic food, negligence of Medical officers & Para Medical Staff as well as non availability of basic facilities & inhumane approach towards the Covid-19 positive patients has posed risk to the life of the patients across valley more particularly kept at isolation center University campus Wayan and JNV centers.
“It was a very surprising and shocking event, when we had a visit to isolation center University campus Wayan Kupwara. The patients are facing extreme hardships & are being forced to have unhygienic food & same is not being served as per prescribed menu & the guidelines issued in this regard. Unclean surface n surroundings has increased the chances of health Complicacies instead of getting recovered from this deadly disease. The neglect of Medical officers, inhumane approach & lack of medical care has added further to the hardships being faced by the inmates”.
He further added that scarcity of water and non availability of workman like electrician, sweeper & health workers on rotation basis is also worth consideration. “It is unfortunate that the authorities & administration in order to suppress the voice being raised by some respectable persons on the frequent request of all the inmates, have been booked in some FIR for the alleged commission of criminal activities, having never taken place.. Notable to mention here that the water “Snow drops” being served to the inmates is lacking minerals. Milk and Butter as reflected in the approved menu has never been served to the inmates n instead of 20 grams of Jam only pack of 10 grams is being served to the inmates, that too not on proper timing.
Dirt and dust coupled with non sanitisation & fumigation of rooms & washrooms is also extremely miserable. Hard to believe but being true that inmates are being compelled by the circumstances to clean their rooms themselves.
Cow dung & flies have been seen in the food of the inmates.. Pillows & sheets have never been replaced and most of the patients have not been provided the same.
The inmates for the reasons of negligence, unethical, inhumane coupled with unprofessional approach of medical & non medical staff have been forced to lodge a complaint with the Honble Judicial Magistrate (Sub Judge) Kupwara & the Honble Court has accordingly directed for Constitution of SIT headed by an honest officer for probe & investigation is accordingly underway & hopefully the bungling will be unearthed soon. It is strange and unfortunate that contract of catering has been assigned to an inexperienced person.
We expect & have firm belief that the authorities will surely swung into action and grievances will be surely addressed and redressed. The basic facilities including food as per guidelines & menu, bedding, cleaning, fumigation, sanitisation of building, washroom and surrounding, availability of water & electricity, health care facilities, medication, consultation,etc shall be surely made available.
It is further worthwhile to mention here that seperate & suitable accommodation for medical and police personnel may also be made available, so that they can serve the best.
“We also urge the authorities to do the needful at an earliest and ensure safe passage, improved health & Honble exit of the patients from covid isolation centers and ask the concerned officers / officials to shun inhumane approach So that the patients are encouraged in such a dreadful pendamic”, he said
