Kupwara; 16 September , 2021. In its continuous offensive against menace of Drug Abuse Kupwara Police continues its war against Drugs.
In a continuous effort to eliminate the menace of Drug Smuggling from the society, 03 Habitual offenders & Notorious Drug Peddlers or smugglers were arrested according to a police statement.
The statement reads that three drug smugglers; Javid Ahmad Lone* S/o Ali Mohammad Lone R/o Panzgam Kralpora, Shameem Ahmad Bhat
S/o Mohammad Tasween Bhat R/o Sudhpora Karnah and Jahangir Ahmad Khan S/o Late Rehmat Ali Khan of Chitterkote Karnah.
The statement reads that these drug smugglers have been detained under The Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropoc Substances Act ,1988 through orders issued by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and have been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu respectively. It is pertinent to mention here that under the provisions of Sec 3 of PIT NDPS Act 1988, a person engaged in Illicit Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances , which poses a serious threat to the health of a person and Society can be detained upto maximum period of one year and can be extended .. Kupwara Police has busted several Narcotic & Narco-Terror Modules and have arrested many notorious Drug peddlers/Smugglers in different NDPS cases during this year. Kupwara Police is committed to continue it's war against the Drug Peddlers/Smugglers and sought co-operation of people in curbing social evils especially Drug Abuse to save the youth from this fatal addiction
