Kupwara : The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg convened an interactive meeting with media fraternity of district Kupwara. 


The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Nazir Ahmad Lone; District Information Officer, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Senior journalists, Yahya Sultan, Fayaz Hameed, Rahee Mushtaq,  Syed Junaid and other concerned were present in the meeting. 

The representatives of  media fraternity Kupwara told district head that the establishment of press club is a panacea to all the issues pertaining to the fraternity.
Anshul Garg was informed that media persons of the area were facing problems due to the absence of press club as they do not have a permanent place to work.

The media fraternity also urged district head to take steps for ensuring the safety of journalists while performing their professional duties.


While giving patient hearing, Anshul Garg assured the journalists body that all their  genuine demands would be met.


The DC assured the media persons to resolve their genuine demands including establishment of press club. He said, as a short term measure, one suitable building will be identified for use as press club in the district.


The DC asked media persons to come up with a concrete proposal for construction of press club which should possess all modern facilities.


The DC said that media is a significant pillar in democracy for deliverance of transparent and accountable governance to the people adding that the District. Administration is always available for coordination with the people who are engaged directly or indirectly in promoting development and wellbeing of the society. 
Giving immediate response to the demand of the media persons, the DC dedicated one Computer System with Internet Connection to District Information Centre Kupwara to facilitate the media persons. 


During the meeting, the DC nominated Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nazir Ahmad Lone as Nodal Officer for establishment of press club. 


The media fraternity Kupwara, on the occasion framed a five member committee including Fayaz Hameed, Yahya Sultan, Rahee Mushtaq, Waseem Mir and Syed Junaid-Ul-Islam to coordinate with the Nodal Officer for further course of action. 


Earlier, DIO Kupwara briefed the DC about the working pattern of Information Department and status of the building presently housed by the department.  He also said that the department remains always on the forefront in facilitating the media persons in the district.
