KUPWARA, MARCH 23: Government Degree College Kupwara today organised a plantation drive in college premises which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner planted some pine saplings in the college premises in presence of Principal GDC Kupwara, Dr. Mohammad Farooq Rather; ADDC Kupwara, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, ASP Kupwara, DFOs of Kehmil and Kamraj Forest divisions and other concerned officers.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the college Auditorium and addressed the students and the faculty and highlighted importance of plantation in safeguarding the environment. He asked students to learn environment science apart from their regular studies and become the protectors of environment.
eh advised them to become ambassador for carrying message of importance of plantation to their parents, friends and neighbours and play their role in plantation of more and more trees as it is directly linked with our water resources. He added it is our duty of one and all to protect environment and water resources for posterity.
Other speakers including Principal GDC and ADDC also spoke on the occasion.
