KUPWARA, MARCH 22: The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din urged upon all the stakeholders to take part in the water conservation efforts so that the gift of nature in the shape of water could be preserved for posterity.
The Deputy Commissioner said this today while taking pledge to save the water on the eve of World Water Day, here.
Chairman, District Development Council (DDC), Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpuri, Deputy Chairman, DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir were also present, besides, various DDC members, ADDC, ADC Kupwara, ACR and District Officers also took pledge, on the occasion.
The function was part of Jal Shakti Abiyan launched by Prime Minister under the theme ‘Catch the Rain, where it falls, when it falls’, to strengthen water conservation efforts in the country.
The live telecast of launch of Jal Shakti Abiyan by Prime Minister was also watched by the participants.
Later, the participants also took part in the live ‘Jal Shapath’ Oath administered by Lieutenant Governor, J&K UT.
Jal Shakti Abiyan was also observed at block level which was participated by BDC Chairperson, besides, Block level Officers and Officials and pledge was taken to conserve water and ensure its judicious use.
And also on the occasion of world water day a series of events were organised by KFORD project implementation agency of district Jal Jevan Mission in kupwara.
