In an unprecedented move; Journalists & writers come together to form an elected body in Kupwara

Kupwara, November 03: In a first of its kind Kupwara Journalist, columnists and writers come together to elect a body for Journalists and Writers Association Kupwara (JWAK), and elected its first President, Vice President, General Secretary and Secretary.

Mr. Fayaz Hamid, a well known Journalist in the region was elected as its first President while as Mr. Amin Masoodi was elected as Vice President, Mr. Abrar Bhat won uncontested and became first general secretary of the body while as Mr. Ashiq Hussain was elected for secretary post. Meanwhile Journalist and Editor Royal Kashmir, Mr. Rasikh Rasool was unanimously elected as Patron of the JWAK.

The hours long electoral exercise was supervised by a team of independent Observors including Bar district president Kupwara, Shafeeq Ahmad, Naib Tehsildar, Zahoor Ahmad Pir,
Showkat Masoodi, Civil Society Convenor, eminent author and poet,
Athar Gani Beig and Advocate high court, Mir Umar.

In border town Karnah, elections for the office bearers were held simultaneously under the supervision of Naib-Tehsildar Karnah, Khoja Ab. Qayoom, as an independent Observor.
Rasikh Rasool, administered oath of office to the elected members during the proceedings.
