‘Great changes in J&K after abrogation of Article 370’: Lt Gen
SRINAGAR, JUNE 12: The Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, Lt Gen Yogesh Kumar Joshi, on Saturday said that the Valley of Jammu and Kashmir has changed in a big way.
Speaking to Republic TV Joshi, He said the atmosphere in the Valley has changed from ‘violence’ to ‘peace and peace’ in the last one-and-a-half years.
Recalling the days before the abrogation of Article 370, Lt Gen Yogesh Kumar Joshi asserted that the atmosphere was surrounded by violence with incidents of stone pelting and firing in the area. Giving an insight into the past, he highlighted the period after the abrogation of Article 370, and said, “The government came and took several initiatives for development, which was not talked about for a very long time. “
He took the opportunity to discuss the steps taken by the government to stop the youth of the Valley from being recruited into radical groups. He said, “A lot of opportunities have been provided to the youth. Many educational organizations like Super 30 for medical and Super 50 for engineering have been opened to keep the youth engaged and away from gun culture. all these years.”
Backing the effectiveness of the steps taken with the data, he said, “Last year, 192 misguided youth were recruited, this year only 39 have happened so far,” adding that it is a ‘shame’. It is being addressed by the security forces as well as the civil administration. (PTK)
