Kupwara, April 20: The District Magistrate Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee to evaluate the measures undertaken by various departments to curb the growing drug menace in the district. The meeting was attended by SSP Kupwara, Syed Al Tahir Gilani, SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal, ACR Kupwara, ACD, ARTO, Principals of Government Degree Colleges, Tehsildars, and other concerned officers.
During the deliberations, officers representing law enforcement, health services, education, and social welfare departments presented the progress achieved in their respective domains, highlighting initiatives aimed at prevention, awareness generation, and enforcement. The discussions underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination, intelligence sharing, and community-level interventions to address both supply-side and demand-side challenges.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the ongoing 100 Days Campaign against substance abuse must be pursued in a mission-oriented manner, with measurable outcomes and visible impact on the ground. He directed intensified enforcement drives against drug peddlers, strengthening of rehabilitation facilities for affected individuals, and sustained awareness campaigns targeting youth and educational institutions. Stressing the significance of the Nasha Mukt JK Abhiyan, he urged all departments to scale up their efforts and ensure that the campaign translates into tangible results.
The meeting concluded with a renewed resolve among all stakeholders to work in unison, with accountability and determination, to ensure that the 100 Days Campaign becomes a catalyst for sustained action towards making Kupwara a drug-free district.
