Says efforts on to make Kupwara more green
Kupwara, March 10: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg today formally kick started plantation drive of the season by planting saplings of Deodar, Conifer,Chinar and Mulberry in the premises of District Administrative Complex Kupwara.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Nazir Ahmad Lone and concerned District Officers were present.
On the occasion, the DDC was informed that 30800 mulberry saplings are being planted in Kupwara, Karnah, Handwara, Langate and Lolab zones of the district by Sericulture department in government institutions as well as public land. Whileas, Social Forestry department is planting 5000 Deodar/Conifer saplings across the district. It was also informed that Floriculture department has a target to plant 400 Chinar saplings in government schools and Panchayat ghars of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that Kupwara District has a vast land under forest cover and the District Administration is putting all possible efforts to give additional greenery to the district by raising the plantation of different kinds of plants. He said, Social Forestry, Sericulture, Floriculture, Forest and Rural Development departments have already been given a target basis job to cover the barren land across the district.
Later, the ADC briefed the media persons about the plantation drive. He urged upon the people of the district to plant more and more trees in their barren land for greater benefit of the district.
