KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 9: In order to reach out to the people living in far flung areas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din today visited far flung border area Kumkadi of Hayhama block, held public darbar and took stock of developmental activities in the area. District Development Council (DDC) member, Hayhama, Sona-ullah Khan also accompanied the Deputy Commissioner. During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner met various public delegations who apprised him about their developmental issues. The Deputy Commissioner heard them and assured time bound resolution of their genuine issues. Addressing the public darbar at Lashdat Kumkadi, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of his visit is to ensure overall development of the border area so that the local people get benefitted. The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers to be more active in facilitating the people residing in far flung areas like Kumkadi. He directed them to ensure proper awareness among the local people about various government schemes so that they can get benefitted. On the demand of local people for notifying of Kumkadi under ALC category, the Deputy Commissioner assured them for proposing the same to the higher ups to fulfill their demand. To ensure hassle free benefits to the people under government schemes, the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to hold a special Adhaar cum Golden card enrollment camp in the area. He also directed the District Sheep Husbandry Officer for establishment of sheep unit in the area under special quota to boost the livelihood of local people. The Deputy Commissioner appealed those people of Kumkadi who are yet to take 2nd dose of Covid vaccination, to get themselves vaccinated at local PHC which is prerequisite to get their ration supply. He appealed the people to follow the COVID appropriate behavior so as to save the area against the possibility of spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Deputy Commissioner expressed his gratitude towards the local people for offering him a warm welcome in the area. On the occasion, , Tehsildar Kupwara, Javaid Ahmad on the directions of Deputy Commissioner distributed cash of Rs.12000 among various widows, disable and destitute persons under District Red Cross fund. DDC member, Sona-ullah Khan also spoke at public darbar and expressed gratitude towards the Deputy Commissioner for reaching to the people of the far flung area. Tehsildar Kupwara also spoke and asked the people to get necessary documents like income certificates from the Revenue department so as to take benefits under various government schemes. Officers and representatives of various departments also spoke on the occasion and provided awareness to the people about the public welfare schemes of their concerned departments. Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Upper Primary School Lashdat and PHC Kumkadi. On the demand of local people, the Deputy Commissioner assured them for required repairs and furnishing of the old UPS building so that the children can have sufficient space to study smoothly. Earlier, local Sarpanch, Haji Showkat Ali apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the problems and issues faced by the people of Kumkadi area. He put forth various issues including ALC status for Kumkadi, mobile network, relocation of local PHC, currently housed in Army camp to other area, Among others, Tehsildar Kupwara, Javaid Ahmad Zargar; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Mohd Haider, AD Planning, Zonal Medical Officer, officers and representatives from Jal Shakti, FS&CA, Animal Husbandry, besides local people of Kumkadi were present at the public darbar.
