KUPWARA, FEBRUARY 20: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din today inaugurated a day long free Medical cum Blood Donation Camp at Government High School Meelyal in Kupwara district.The camp was organised by Red Cross Society Kupwara in collaboration with Health Department.
ADMO Kupwara, Dr.Farooq Iqbal, BMO Kralpora, Mir Shafi; Dr. Shabir Ahmad , Incharge Medical Camp, besides, senior doctors from AYUSH and Health department provided free treatment and health service to the people.
Meanwhile, 471 local patients were provided with medical check-ups and free medicines worth Rs.1.50 lakh were distributed among them.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective of conducting such camps is to ensure better healthcare of the people of far flung areas. He directed the concerned Medical officers to intensify the efforts in augmenting the health care facilities in the district especially in far flung areas so that the people will be benefitted.
On the occasion, 33 pint blood was donated on spot by around 30 persons including Commanding Officer, 87 Bn BSF, Sanjay Shrivasav and some BSF Jawans. Some officials of District Administration also donated the blood including Incharge Relief Section, Nazir Ahmad; Driver, Muneer Ahmad, besides, local youth from different NGOs also contributed the blood bank.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner distributed certificate of appreciation among some civil and army officials and blood donors.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Health Centre Meelyal and took stock of various sections and functioning of the hospital. He also inspected on-going fencing work at the Health centre.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner convened a joint meeting of civil and army officers and elected representatives.
On the occasion, various demands were put forth by the elected representatives before the Deputy Commissioner which include uninterrupted power supply, augmentation of water supply schemes and maintenance of local roads.
The Deputy Commissioner heard the issues patiently and issued on spot directions to the concerned officers for resolving of genuine demands of the people in the time bound manner.
