Awareness programmes under NMBA held across district.
KuUPWARA, JULY 15: Making a clarion call to make Kupwara a drug-free district, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan (IAS) on Saturday appealed to all the stakeholders, including the Students, parents, PRIs, employees of line departments, law enforcement agencies and people of Kupwara district to pool in to curb the menace of drug abuse.
Addressing an impressive awareness programme under Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) organised at Panchayat Drugmulla-B, by Rural Development Department Kupwara, the Deputy Commisioner said, “Drug abuse is the biggest challenge which our young generation is facing. To eradicate this menace which is more dangerous and disastrous , society as a whole needs to make concerted efforts”.
DC said that students are our future generation, progress and development of next few decades is completely dependent on our student community. We can’t achieve progress untill our present and future generations are healthy, productive and free from the menace of drugs.
Highlighting the aims and objectives of holding the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan, Ayushi Sudan said the purpose of taking pledges and holding awareness programmes is to sensitize the society against the harmful effects of drug abuse and reach out to the drug abusers and provide them a platform and conducive environment so that they come out of drug menace.
DC said that drugs are harmful and drug abuse is tearing mentally and physically to its abuser and breaking social fabric of society. There are large scale family feuds, economic crisis and crimes in society because of drug menace.
DC urged PRIs, and all other stake holders to play their active role so that Kupwara district becomes drug free.
Students of local government school on the ocasion presented a beautiful skit depicting harmful effects of drug abuse.
Awareness programme was attended by ACD Kupwara, Hilal Ahmad Mir; BDC Drugmulla,Shaheena Begum; BDO Drugmulla, Dr. Tarique Ahmad Padder; PRIs, Panchayat secretaries, teachers, Asha workers, anganwadi workers, health officials, students besides residents of Drugmulla.
AWARENESS PROGRAMMES UNDER NMBA HELD ACROSS KUPWARA DISTRICT: Meanwhile on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, the Education Department,Kupwara; Social welfare department, RDD and Health department organized various awareness programmes, events, rallies, gram sabhas in various educational institutions and Panchayats involving students, teachers, Panchayat secretaries, PRIs, Anganwadi workers, Asha workers under Nasha Mukt Bharat in order to create awareness among people about the harmful effects of drug menace and its trafficking.
The participants through skits, and other cultural programmes educated the young generation about the harmful and deadly effects of the drugs. The participants displayed placards and raised slogans about the harmful effects of the drugs. They also raised awareness about ill effects of drugs and mobilized public opinion to make Kupwara district drug free.
The locals also appreciated the people-friendly initiatives and efforts of the District Administration Kupwara on raising awareness among Youth about the Drug Menace.
