District witnesses highest spike since pandemic outbreak

Kupwara, May 28 (KNO) : Kupwara district in northern belt of Kashmir Thursday was taken by a surprise as the district recorked highest ever spike of 43 cases in a single day, highest ever since pandemic outbreak, taking the total tally of cases to 237.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the fresh 43 cases are travellers, who in recent days arrived from various parts of country and abroad.
They said with fresh 43 positive cases, the total number of travellers testing positive for novel coronavirus have gone up to 126 in the entire district.
Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg informed that 43 new cases, all travellers in quarantine Centres are being shifted to COVID care facility. This takes total number of Kupwara returnees who have tested positive till date to 126.
He said once again, it is reiterated that there is a need to keep the vigil on and there is no room for complacency in testing and simultaneously following advisories on social distancing and using of masks.
Pertinently, 237 people have so far tested positive for novel coronavirus in the entire district of which 70 have recovered with no fatality as on date besides that over 3000 people who arrived back from outside Jammu and Kashmir were quarantined and shifted for sampling—(KNO)
