Kupwara : Infiltrations by the militants has almost come to a grinding halt as the forces are keeping vigil to foil their attempts at Line of Control (LoC), Kashmir police chief, Vijay Kumar said on Tuesday, adding that the local youth joining militant ranks has also declined.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir zone, said that infiltration across the LoC including Kupwara district has come to almost grinding halt.

“Infiltration has come down to as compared to the past figures due to round the clock vigil of armed forces and other security agencies,” Kumar said on the sidelines of the Public Darbaar in Kupwara today.

He said that the close vigil along LoC has helped in pushing back the infiltrators and also led the killing of numbers of militants who attempted to infiltrate this part of Kashmir.

Kumar also said that Pakistan has kept the militants ready at the launching pads at different locations, but the close vigil and preparation of security forces will give them befitting reply and will foil their attempts.

IGP Kashmir also stated that the local militancy has also declined in the Valley. “The number of youth joining different militant outfits has declined to satisfactory level in recent times,” he said.

He further added that the Jammu and Kashmir police and other security agencies are ready for any sort of challenge. “Our efforts are on to maintain peace across the Valley,” he added.

Furthermore, the IGP Kashmir said that youth should desist from getting involved in drugs dealing and consumption.

“The youth must focus on their carrier rather than getting involved in anti-social and national activities, which disrupts peace,” Kumar said as per KNO.
