In a very tragic incident, Ayaan, son of Altaf Ahmad Dar, a five year old boy, fell into 10 feet unfinished sewage pit under construction, filled with rain water, in Kunan, Trehgam of Kupwara on 21 August 21. As no one was around when he fell down, the boy succumbed to drowning. Body could only be traced after 2 hours when family started looking and the body had resurfaced. The body was taken to hospital but he was declared brought dead.

Entire village was jolted by this unfortunate and tragic incident. More than 400 people from surrounding villages attended his janaza and are mourning his untimely demise.

A gloomy cast could be felt in air when Commanding Officer, Humdard-e-Kupwara Battalion visited the family to pay condolences. The grandfather and father couldn’t control their tears when the CO embraced them. Village elders also shared their grief with the family along with CO. The family and villagers were assured that Army will always be there by their side in all their joys and sorrows.
