Army’s 30 Rashtriya Rifles on Wednesday rescued a pregnant woman amid heavy snowfall in Monabal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
“At 10:30 AM, Indian Army received a distress call from saleem Ahmad Seer husband of the pregnant woman requesting for urgent rescue and medical evacuation of a pregnant lady who was in critical condition,” reads a statement issued here.
“Due to snowfall in the terrain, Monabal road was completely blocked and very slippery. Realising the exigency, rescue team and medics from Haril Camp immediately responded to distress call, risking their own safety,” reads the statement adding, “In spite of heavy snow and sleet formation on the road, the rescue team reached the location on time and the patient was carefully and safely evacuated to GMC handwara.”
“The SHO Qalamabad Inspector majid Ahmad already on standby at Haril received the patient and a team of doctors attending her immediately to ensure her safety,” reads the statement.
“The family and doctors have in the meantime expressed their gratitude to the Army’s 30RR and Handwara police for their swift action and timely assistance as it saved the lives of mother and child,” reads the statement further.
