Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone today visited District Jail, Kupwara and took stock of the facilities being provided to inmates there.
He was informed that 144 youths of various districts of kashmir valley are presently in the jail.
Addressing the inmates at a function held in the Jail premises, the ADC said that District Administration is always providing every possible support to the SP Jail to further upgrade the facilities in the jail including uninterrupted watersupply, better civic facilities, bedding and other required things.
He said district administration has arranged 100 beddings including Matres, Razaie,blanket and pillows by now and also provided blankets and other essentials during previous year.
ADC said that the purpose of holding this function is to make sure that all inmates in the jail should learn different skills of their own choice in the jail , for which separate courses of 4 months and 6 months have been formulated by Director Jan Shiksha Saranthan(JSS), MSDE, GOI.
He stressed upon the inmates that they should take jail as a reformation centre as well as an institution and asked them to wholeheartedly participate in the training courses so that on their release ,they can live at their own legs and can serve their families in a better way.
The ADC inspected kitchen /mess and checked the food items prepared for the inmates.He enquired about the food chart and manu and was informed that the food is being properly served as per protocal.
The ADC also replied to the demands raised by the jail inmates.
The Director Jan Shiksha Saranthan(JSS), MSDE, GOI gave details of the training courses and informed that in the first phase cutting- tailoring, embroidery and computer courses have been approved by the government of India.
The inmates will be given certificates at the end of the courses with loan facilities with out any requirement of guarantees.
Superintendent of District Jail, Mohammad Shabazz, Director Jan Shiksha Saranthan(JSS), MSDE, GOI, Mohammad Iqbal, District Information Officer Kupwara Mohammad Yousuf Mir and other concerned were present on the occasion.
