5 minor girls drown in stagnant rainwater at Zewan, Sgr

Three rescued on time, 2 more develop breathing issues, shifted to hospital

Five minor girls drowned in a stagnant rainwater near stone quarries in Zewan area of Srinagar this afternoon of who were rescued jointly by the police and people of which three are alright while two others were shifted to a hospital.

Eye-witnesses told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that many children including minor girls were playing on the eve of Eid and at least five of them slipped into the stagnant rainwater near stone quarries at Zewan. Locals informed police and later carried out joint rescue operation.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pantha Chowk Sajad Bukhari told KNO that three girls were rescued and are perfectly alright but two more who were also rescued were having breathing issues. “They were shifted to Sub District Hospital Pampore where doctors are attending to them,” he
