The programme also witnessed the presence of SSP Kupwara, Syed Al-Tahir Gilani and participation of several officers from different departments along with Ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, Veer Mata and their dependents.
The Programme commenced by a Welcome address delivered by Col SS Raja, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer who extended Raising Day greetings to all dignitaries and participants and paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation and conveyed his heartfelt respects to Ex-servicemen and their dependents. The ZSWO also highlighted the collective responsibility of every stakeholder in combating the growing menace of drug abuse initiated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Jammu & Kashmir and stressed that the fight against drug menace is not merely an administrative responsibility but a larger social mission requiring vigilance, awareness and sustained public participation.
During his address, the ZSWO emphasized that ex-servicemen should strive to become self-reliant by beginning a successful second innings in life and encouraged them to become job creators rather than job seekers by taking advantage of various self-employment and entrepreneurship schemes of the central and UT Government like Mission YUVA, KVIB schemes, HADP schemes, Skill development or small business schemes. He further urged veterans to motivate the youth and their children to embrace self-employment and contribute to nation building and vision of Vikshit Bharat-2047.
On this occasion, ZSWO presented mementos to Deputy Commissioner and SSP as a token of gratitude for their continued support and encouragement. Mementos were also presented to the best performing JCO for excellent co-ordination of the event and to the dedicated team members of the ASG Eye Hospital for their valuable services.
To mark the occasion, a free Eye Screening and Medical Camp was organized in association with ASG Eye Hospital, Srinagar for ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependents. The camp received an overwhelming response with large number of beneficiaries availing themselves of the free services.
The programme concluded with the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara visiting the Eye Camp and extended its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, Veer Mata, Veer Pita and their families on the occasion of the 79th Raising Day of the Sainik Welfare Department while reaffirming its commitment to their welfare and well-being.
