Kupwara: Members of Traders Federation Kupwara on Monday evening protested against the authorities for ordering deferment of traders federation elections scheduled to be held tomorrow.
The traders expressed great resentment against district commissioner for ordering deferment of polls citing security and law and order problems. The traders annouced to observe indefinite shutdown from tomorrow untill the order is revoked.
Notably the traders elections were to be held in the Kupwara town after eight years following a court decision.
Showkat Masoodi, Mohd Amin Bhat, Haji Gh Ahmad Mir, Haji Gh Mohd Mir, Mohd Hanief Banday and Mohd Maqbool Malik were the contestants for the president post.
