Since the time the four semi-finalists for the ongoing 2022 T20 World Cup were confirmed, the cricket fraternity including over a billion fans have been rooting for an India vs Pakistan final, just like the one that set the ball rolling for the ICC tournament in 2007. Team India and England will cross swords in the second semi-final on November 10 (Thursday) at the Adelaide Oval while Pakistan and New Zealand will square off in the first semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on November 09 (Wednesday). The winner of the two semi-finals will then go toe-to-toe in the crunch final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 13 (Sunday)
England captain Jos Buttler, however, is very clear in his plans of spoiling the party as the Three Lions look to capture their second T20 World Cup crown, first after 2010.
“We certainly don’t want to see an India versus Pakistan final and we will try to spoil their party. They are a good team,” Buttler said in the press conference ahead of the second semi-final.”We have got to the point where we wanted to be. Everyone is excited about playing in the semifinal. Obviously, we are really excited about the match against a great Indian team. We like to be in such a situation,” he added while reflecting on England’s performance so far and the team’s readiness for the knockouts.
