TYCIA Foundation Distributes Educational Kits to Border Students Affected by Shelling in Karnah SectorKupwara, North Kashmir:

The aftermath of the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor has severely impacted several border villages in the Tangdar and Karnah sectors of Kupwara district, disrupting daily life and significantly affecting the education of school-going children.
Due to continuous tension and shelling along the border, many schools in the Karnah sector remained closed for weeks. During this period, several families were forced to flee their homes, while others struggled to cope with the challenging circumstances. In one particularly distressing incident, the books of several students were burnt, leaving them without essential learning materials. Many others lost their school bags, notebooks, and stationery during the crisis.
With families already under financial strain, replacing these essential educational items became difficult for many parents.
Recognizing the urgent need to support affected children, a campaign was initiated to help students continue their education. The campaign was driven by Teach for India (TFI), with TYCIA Foundation serving as the implementation partner on the ground.
Through this collective effort, educational kits containing school bags, water bottles, notebooks, textbooks, and other necessary stationery items were mobilized and distributed among affected students in the Tangdar and Karnah sectors.
With logistical support from the Indian Army, the kits were transported and distributed in the affected areas, ensuring that support reached those who needed it most.
In addition to the educational kits, crayons and colour pencils were also provided. These will be used to organize painting competitions, encouraging creativity among border students and helping them express their experiences and aspirations through art.
The initiative has brought much-needed relief and encouragement to students who had been struggling to resume their education after weeks of disruption. Local residents have widely appreciated the effort.
This initiative stands as a strong example of collaboration, with the combined efforts of TYCIA Foundation, Teach for India, the Indian Army, school institutions, and individual supporters, ensuring that education continues even in the most challenging circumstances for children living in sensitive border regions.
