Two brothers, their cousin and a neighbor lost their lives after they fell in a well while cleaning it

KUPWARA, JULY 2:  In a tragic incident, four people, including two brothers, their cousin and a neighbor, who were cleaning a well in Singdun Dard Harie, were declared brought dead with suffocation, in Sub District Hospital Kralpora after they fell in a well which was around 40 feet deep.

Eyewitnesses said that around 1:30 pm when they were cleaning the well with a motor and suddenly motor fell into the well.“Altaf (One of the deceased) tried to get motor back but he fell into the well. The other three persons tried to rescue him and they too fell into it”, said an eyewitness Bashir Ahmad.

The people alleged that the rescue team reached late which resulted in death of these four people. The locals however said that, the police was informed around 2:00 pm.

“Earlier when we failed to get them back, we informed the police. They reached here after fifteen minutes. The civil administration along with ambulances and fire brigade reached after 2 and half hours” alleged locals of the area.

The village doesn’t have a proper road hence fire brigade was on main road and the stairs were carried by the locals. Later two locals also went into the well to rescue the four persons.

All the four persons were brought to SDH Kralpora where doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as:

1:Mohd Altaf Sheikh, S/O Gh Mohi ud Din sheikh, Age 35

2: Mumtaz Ahmad Khan S/O Gh Mohi ud Din Khan, Age 24

3: Altaf Hussain Khan S/O Gh Mohi ud Din khan, age 26

4: Showkat Ahmad Khan S/O Gh Hassan Khan, age 26
