SRTC employees described by Govt as Corona warriors without salaries

‘Salaries to be released within days: Angrez Singh

Despite hailing as Corona warriors and getting applause from people as well as administration, State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) employees are without salaries from past three months here in Kashmir Valley.

“Not only SRTC drivers but employees affiliated with operational activities are also without wages from past three months. Despite, repeated requests, salaries are not being paid to us,” said a group of SRTC employees to news agency KNT.

He said that SRTC employees are playing a key role in this pandemic. “We ferry Covid-19 suspects to designated quarantine centres day in and day out. Every time we are being called in to ferry Covid-19 suspects especially travelers and we do oblige without any hesitation,” they said.

They said they are being hailed as Coronavirus but at the same time deprived of their deserved wages.

When contacted, Managing Director SRTC Angrez Singh Rana told KNT that salaries will be released within days. “Please tell them, their salaries will be paid to them within days,” he said. KNT
