Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu Wednesday chaired a meeting with senior officers of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) sections and reviewed their work, sought status report of current projects and issued directives to the staff of the sections.Besides taking review of Drainage projects, Mayor also reviewed Revenue status OF SMC assets, building permissions, Swachh Bharat Mission etcThe Mayor, besides passing certain decisions stressed the need for decentralization of building permission, he suggested such processes should be initiated at ward levels where an applicant can submit documents and also collect permissions, “This will save the time of the applicant and makes the system more reliable,” said Mr. Mattu.Besides this he also stressed for digitization of building permission records.He underlined that the initiatives are required to dovetail technological and logistic support to provide the service at the applicant’s door steps.As a part of smart city, Mayor said the need of the hour is to have a concrete policy which needs to be implemented and takes city to the new heights.Regarding drainage networking, Mayor asked the S.E drainage to conduct survey of existing drainage network in Srinagar city and also come up with the list of optimally functional and choked drains in the city.On solid waste management Mayor stressed the need to have comprehensive solid waste management systemThe meeting was attended by Commissioner SMC Gazanfer Ali, Joint Commissioner Admn, Syed Abul Kasim, Joint Commissioner Works Ishtitak Ahmed Shah, Joint Commissioner Planning, Ghulam Hasan Mir, S.E Drainage Deewan Chand, Secretary SMC Sofi Akbar, ADP Planning Khursheed Ahmed., all executives Engineers, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Enforcement Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, Informatics Officer.
