Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Helpline (WHL-181) inassociation with GDC Ajas Bandipora through its Campaigner Bilal Bhat organized seminar on several women centric schemes like WHL_181,OSC,Mission Shakti, etc at Govt.Degree College Ajas Bandipora.Large number of students,staff attended the Seminar.
On the occasion sneakers of the college were apprised the students to break Your Silence on Domestic Violence etc.Take advantage of all Centrally sponsored schemes of Department of Social Welfare Jammu and Kashmir,said Bilal Bhat.
The WHL-181 is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development and it is being run by Mission Directorate Women Empowerment of Department of Social Welfare in UT of J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Campaigner cum project coordinator WHL-181 Bilal Bhat highlighted the overall services provided by the helpline. Giving details, he said the helpline provides 24-hour immediate response to women in distress and represents them before the appropriate service providers such as police and legal authorities.
He said the one-stop centre also provides services like hospital assistance, emergency response and psychological support/counselling, temporary shelter, family counselling etc.
Speaking on the occasion Bilal Bhat highlight the various women specific schemes in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.Bhat further informed the participants that they can get help from the helpline in case of domestic violence, dowry abuse, mental torture, sexual assault, eve-teasing, cyber-crime, child sexual abuse, rape, economical violence or any other violence.
While stating that “suicide is not a solution”, the project coordinator said the purpose of one-stop centres is to provide integrated services to women and children affected by domestic violence, sexual harassment, emotional and psychological abuse.
The event started with a welcome address by Ashaq Hussain Parray, convener Seminar and Debates, who welcomed the guest besides striking an introductory note.
The other faculty members attended the event were Dr Aftab Ahmad ,Dr Ad
Zahoor Ah,Dr Faisal Ahmad ,Dr Mehraj Ud Dine Sahib ,Dr Ishfaq Ah ,Dr Nighat & other faculty members. The event ended with a vote of thanks offered by Dr Ishfaq, Department of Political science .
