Handwara, August 17: In a significant push to strengthen drinking water infrastructure in Rajwar, Handwara MLA Sajad Gani Lone has recommended the Rajwar Water Supply Scheme under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and proposed an amount of ₹30 lakh to facilitate its smooth and timely operationalisation.
In a letter addressed to the Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, Handwara, Lone said the proposed CDF amount may be utilised for any new expenditure arising during the operationalisation of the Lower Rajwar Water Supply Scheme, with the objective of ensuring that the long-awaited project becomes functional without further delay.
The MLA noted that work on the scheme commenced in 2015 and expressed satisfaction that the people of Rajwar are now expected to have access to an adequate and reliable water supply.
Lone has urged the concerned authorities to undertake the required scrutiny and complete the technical, financial and administrative formalities at the earliest. He specifically proposed that the necessary sanctions be issued within 45 days, in accordance with CDF guidelines, and that the sanctioned works be completed at the earliest.
In a separate communication regarding the scheme’s operationalisation and dedication, Lone suggested that the project be formally dedicated to the people of Rajwar through a simple plaque or signage, rather than a large inauguration ceremony.
The proposed inscription would acknowledge the people of Mawar for their cooperation in facilitating the passage of the water pipeline through their area.
Expressing gratitude to the Jal Shakti Department and all those involved in the project, Lone said the scheme represents an important step towards addressing the long-standing water needs of the people of Rajwar.
The move is being seen as a renewed effort to ensure that the Lower Rajwar Water Supply Scheme, which has remained a long-pending demand of the area, is brought into effective operation and delivers reliable drinking water to the local population.
“Clean Water • A Better Tomorrow” remains at the centre of the initiative, with the MLA reiterating his commitment to improving basic public infrastructure and addressing the genuine needs of the people of Rajwar.
