KUPWARA WOMEN CRICKET TEAM ON SADHBHAVANA TOUR TO PUNE REGISTER THEIR FIRST WIN IN FRIENDSHIP TROPHY CRICKET TOURNAMENT

In a remarkable achievement Kupwara Women Cricket Team achieved their first resounding succes against The Orchid School Pune Women Cricket Team by 9 wickets in the Friendship Trophy Cricket Tournament at Pune, Maharashtra on 19 Dec 23,
Kupwara Women Cricket team comprising of 17 players including a lady attendant is currently participating on a tour to Pune Maharashtra as part of Operation Sadhbhavana. This initiative taken by Indian Army aimed at promoting youth and women empowerment in the border regions of Jammu & Kashmir (UT) has successfully provided a platform to these budding cricketers to showcase their sporting skills.
In their 2nd league match, Kupwara Women Cricket Team defeated The Orchid School Cricket Team, Pune by a huge margin of 9 wickets. Kupwara team won the toss and decided to field first. Kupwara bowlers performed with textbook precision and restricted Orchid School Team to a low score of 25 runs. Kupwara team chased the given target in just 3 overs at the loss of a single wicket. This was the first win of Kupwara Women Team in the said tournament which will give them confidence to perform better in forthcoming matches. *Jameela Subhan* of *Kupwara 11* was declared *Woman of the Match* for her brilliant performance as she decimated the batting line-up with a 3 wicket haul.
